Some Info Bernard Akaawase is a Postdoctoral Investigator in the Physical Oceanography Department at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, working with Dr. Anthony Kirincich and Dr. Momme Hell. Where he is investigating how ocean surface waves influence small-scale air-sea interaction processes and offshore wind turbine fatigue using both observations and modeling. Bernard completed his Ph.D. in Oceanography at the University of Connecticut in 2026, advised by Dr. Leonel Romero. His dissertation focused on wave-breaking kinematics and the directional spectra of short gravity waves using novel stereo infrared and visible imagery. He also holds a Master of Science in Oceanography and a Bachelor of Engineering in Marine Engineering. Outside the lab, he enjoys playing soccer and violin.
