Research Statement

The Kim Lab aims to understand the impact and feedback of marine biogeochemical dynamics on the Earth’s climate system. We develop and utilize mechanistic biogeochemical models of differing complexity in conjunction with the analysis of observations and data-driven modeling. Current research topics in the Kim Lab include microbial control on the biological carbon pump, biogeochemical feedback on air-sea CO2 flux, biophysical interactions in polar oceans, and ocean Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR).
