Some Info Jacob Davis (Jake) is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. His research centers around the use and development of novel observing platforms which he combines with modern data analysis methods to conduct science focused at the interface of the ocean and atmosphere. His current projects include the use of air-deployed wave buoys for hurricane forecast improvements and the development of data-driven methods for wave measurement from submarine fiber optic cables. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Washington Applied Physics Lab, where his dissertation work was focused on developing new approaches to observing waves in hurricanes and sea ice. Previously, Jake earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As a graduate student, he was a founding member of the Ocean Resources and Renewable Energy Lab where he co-led the engineering of the group’s wave-current flume and conducted research on wave energy conversion.
