Some Info Mary researches new ways to understand the chemistry of the ocean, particularly its dissolved gases, fluorescence properties, and salinity. As part of this research, she's worked on the development of novel optical sensors, including estimating phytoplankton primary productivity with fluorometry, measuring ocean pressure and salinity with interferometry, and sensing dissolved gases with absorbance spectroscopy.
