Research Statement
I am a Senior Research Specialist in the Biology Department with expertise in harmful algal blooms (HABs) and Oceans and Human Health (OHH). My background includes field and laboratory studies on the ecology and molecular biology of HABs, particularly taxa responsible for Ciguatera Poisoning. In addition to my research, I have significant experience and involvement in community and stakeholder engagement, and lead the Woods Hole Center for Oceans and Human Health (WHCOHH) Community Engagement Core. I am actively involved in coordinating the interests of the HAB community at the national level, and support the U.S. National Office for Harmful Algal Blooms, which was established by NOAA to improve engagement, enhance information sharing, and facilitate coordination within the HAB research and management community. Finally, I am the Associate Director of the NOAA Cooperative Institute for the North Atlantic Region (CINAR), which comprises eight research institutions, and is focused on addressing NOAA research needs in the Northeast.
