Research Statement

I am interested in seaweed ecology, aquaculture, and uses in society. My research at WHOI focuses on eco-physiology of sugar kelp, including selective breeding for heat-tolerant strains and assessing environmental and genetic influences on desired kelp traits for aquaculture, as well as sustainable cultivation methods for sugar kelp and the related skinny kelp. As a Postdoctoral Scholar, I work with Scott Lindell and Tom Bell in the Applied Ocean Physics & Engineering Department, and Carolyn Tepolt and Harriet Alexander in the Department of Biology.
