Some Info Dr. Z. Aleck Wang is a marine chemist with expertise in seawater carbonate chemistry, in situ sensor technologies, marine CO2 removal (mCDR), coastal carbon cycling, ocean acidification (OA), and carbon fluxes in tidal wetlands. His current projects focus on studying Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE) and enhanced weathering as CO2 removal (CDR) approaches; Measurements, Recording, and Verification (MRVs) for CDRs; the impacts of OA in coastal systems; blue carbon exports from tidal wetlands; and developing in situ sensors and sensor networks to study and monitor the carbon cycle and OA. Aleck earned his M.S. in Oceanography from University of New Hampshire in 1998 and his Ph.D. in Marine Sciences from University of Georgia in 2003. He has been a scientist at WHOI since 2009.
